Online fanfiction is a growing phenomenon and can be a telling indicator of the popularity of different types of media and entertainment. English Professor Peter Ducherney wanted to better understand the evolution of fandoms by looking at what and how movie dialogue is reused in fanfiction. I worked with several other developers in the Price Lab for Digital Humanities to help build a beta site for this project featuring a data visualization of the location, frequency, and emotional connotation of movie dialogue in fanworks scraped from the Archive of Our Own repository.
